LAUNCHING THE WORLD’S FIRST ACCELERATOR FOR CLIMATE NOt-fot-PROFITS

 

BRIEF

 

Harpswood was briefed by UK tech entrepreneur Gi Fernando, MBE, to launch Subak, a not-for-profit tech accelerator dedicated to sharing data to tackle climate change.

We worked with Subak to film an ambitious launch video, profiling key members in the accelerator. We identified the star quality of Subak’s key individuals within the climate and tech worlds and considered how they could be used to attract media coverage.

 

APPROACH

 

We developed messaging for discrete audiences: funders, member organisations, fellows and general public.

We co-ordinated a launch video and sounded out NATIONAL science and tech editors for the earned media exclusive.  

 
 

RESULTS

 

A double-page spread in The Observer in print and an article online with the launch video embedded

  • Baroness Bryony Worthington discussed the launch on Sky News Daily Climate Show

  • Coverage across key titles including Forbes, edie.net, The ENDS Report, Current+ News, Transition Economist and Computing, and the central message we developed – “Share the data, save the planet” – featured in all coverage

  • Following the 2021 launch, we’re continuing to raise Subak’s profile as an impact-focussed accelerator and data community with a growing global reach

  • Features secured in Tech Crunch, Sifted, Business Insider, Forbes, Business Green and UKTN…

  • A profile interview for CEO Amali de Alwis in Sifted to support Subak’s £20 million fundraise, and prestigious award wins including Business Insider’s Climate Action Heroes 2022 and Woman & Home’s Amazing Women for 2022
